Co-Founders - Oliver Gough + Alice Patience
"Design isn’t just about how something looks – it’s about how it feels, how it fits into your life."
Patience & Gough started as a small studio in the Lake District, restoring vintage furniture – an experience that shaped not just our approach, but our philosophy. For us, craft is about more than construction, it’s about intuition. It’s knowing how to bring a piece to life. Every line, curve, and angle is carefully considered, yet the result should always feel effortless.
Our backgrounds in furniture restoration, luxury textiles, and bespoke design have really influenced the way we
work. We bring an intuitive understanding of form to every piece, and a respect for the heritage of craft.
While we lean into tradition, we’re not bound by it. Rather, we’re driven by a curiosity to push it further. We experiment with form, materials and techniques, and collaborate with renowned artisans to create furniture that feels timeless, yet unexpected.
For us, design isn’t just about beauty – it’s about intent. It’s a craft that tells a story, resonates and belongs.
"We want to create pieces
that don’t just sit in a
space, they shape it."

About Us
+
Located in the Lake District, Patience & Gough - Design House - specializes in three core offerings: luxury textiles, bespoke cabinet-making, and tailored interior design.

Our Studio
Our design studio is located in the heart of the Lake District, Windermere. The beautiful building was originally built to serve as the train station ticket office. Its period details and arched windows were what drew us to the building, and after a full refurbishment, we moved in.
We now offer fully bespoke furniture design as well as turn-key interior design services. We have completed several multi million pound projects in the local area and pride ourselves on being able to merge our distinct style with our clients' tastes, creating homes that are individual and unique to the people we work with.
