Tropics Rosewood Record Unit
For this beautiful Swedish rosewood sideboard we used a selection of new techniques to reconfigure it in to a custom record unit for our client.
To compliment the original brass feet we have used solid brass hardware throughout the piece, even the screws for a luxuries finish. Also routing out a section along the front of the sideboard in order to in-lay a beautiful brass band to hide some damage of the veneer. This allowed us to put our own stamp on the piece whilst keeping the lovely wood as the main aspect.
However on the inside, we wanted to make a statement! so after reconfiguring the whole inside by taking out all the old supports, adding a new stonger base, ash shelves and removing the front panel to put it on hinges in order to house our client's amplifier.
We choose "Dark tropics" from Avalanas range to take centre stage by applying it on the underside of the lift up top and fold down panel creating a bohemian feel and wonderful contrast between the dark rosewood! while also complimenting a drinks cabinet we created for them using the same fabric.
Choose Greige 01 from Lick's range to paint all the insides for a clean and crisp feel to store records, books, the record player and hi-fi unit.
The rosewood has been carefully smooth sanded to remove the old varnish and take out any scratches, then lovingly oiled to bring to the grain to life!
All paint has had a top coat of matt varnish for durability.
We are extremely pleased with transformation, creating a sleek luxurious piece, If you are also a fan of old records and listening to music while sat in front of the fire, please contact us for an informal chat to start your commission journey!
