Gilbert is an Art Deco fabric derived from Walter Gilbert’s original 1933 sculptural frieze for Derry & Toms. Leaping deer and swallows move between stylised fountains, palms and decorative forms, translated from the original relief into a repeating textile in collaboration with Frank Holmes Fine Décor. The design is deliberately tonal, allowing the intricate artwork to read almost as texture from a distance, with the finer details revealing themselves on closer inspection.
In the Bromsgrove colourway, Gilbert takes on a soft, silvered sage green palette. Cool and understated, it gives the Art Deco pattern a calm, architectural quality that works particularly well with natural timber, stone and soft neutral schemes.
