Gilbert is an Art Deco fabric derived from Walter Gilbert’s original 1933 sculptural frieze for Derry & Toms. Leaping deer and swallows move between stylised fountains, palms and decorative forms, translated from the original relief into a repeating textile in collaboration with Frank Holmes Fine Décor. The design is deliberately tonal, allowing the intricate artwork to read almost as texture from a distance, with the finer details revealing themselves on closer inspection.

In the No. 99 colourway, Gilbert pairs a deep inky navy ground with softly soft truffle-brown detailing. Dark and atmospheric, the palette gives the Art Deco pattern a rich, evening quality that works beautifully with walnut, dark timber, aged brass and warm neutral interiors.

Printed on 100% linen, this luxury patterned fabric is suitable for curtains, cushions and light upholstery. The natural texture softens the Art Deco design, giving Gilbert a relaxed, tactile finish while retaining clear pattern definition.

Yevheniia Vynokurova Headshot

Yevheniia Vynokurova

Ukrainian artist Yevheniia Vynokurova talks about her inspiration and the meanings behind the tigers that caught the attention of design house Patience and Gough and sparked the collaboration.

Artist Yevheniia Vynokurova says of her designs, “I’ve come a very short way as an artist, but I feel the importance of my mission to create something incredible and beautiful because it makes me happy that people can smile when they look at my illustrations. The tiger is a symbol of energy, and strength, as well as a symbol of good luck and beauty. Inspired by Eastern mythology, I imagined the essence of these animals and by drawing the tigers I started a dialogue with myself, and with many others, for whom my tigers have become a talisman.”

As Yevheniia beautifully puts it, her tigers are more than illustrations – they’re talismans of courage and resilience. Through this collection, our fabric is given a layer of meaning far beyond the material.
