Developed as a companion piece to the Shokunin Chest of Drawers, this bedroom chest celebrates the natural beauty of bamboo and the craftsmanship that defines the collection. Shokunin Bedroom Chest

Whilst sharing the distinctive silhouette and architectural language of the larger piece, this more compact interpretation places greater emphasis on materiality. Shown in its natural finish, the design reveals the layered construction of the bamboo throughout the frame, legs and sculpted top, allowing the character and structure of the material to become a defining feature.

The gently curved understructure creates a sense of lightness, whilst hand-selected bone and brass handles bring a jewellery-like quality to the piece, adding refinement without distracting from the beauty of the bamboo itself. Subtle figured veneers provide moments of contrast and depth, balancing simplicity with carefully considered detail.

Designed for more intimate spaces, the piece brings together functionality, craftsmanship and sculptural form in equal measure. The result is furniture that feels calm, timeless and quietly distinctive.

Like all pieces within the Shokunin Collection, the design can be tailored through alternative finishes, materials and detailing to suit the individual project.

Yevheniia Vynokurova

Ukrainian artist Yevheniia Vynokurova talks about her inspiration and the meanings behind the tigers that caught the attention of design house Patience and Gough and sparked the collaboration.

Artist Yevheniia Vynokurova says of her designs, “I’ve come a very short way as an artist, but I feel the importance of my mission to create something incredible and beautiful because it makes me happy that people can smile when they look at my illustrations. The tiger is a symbol of energy, and strength, as well as a symbol of good luck and beauty. Inspired by Eastern mythology, I imagined the essence of these animals and by drawing the tigers I started a dialogue with myself, and with many others, for whom my tigers have become a talisman.”

As Yevheniia beautifully puts it, her tigers are more than illustrations – they’re talismans of courage and resilience. Through this collection, our fabric is given a layer of meaning far beyond the material.
