The Canvas Collection takes a softer approach. Shapes feel worn-in, almost as if they’ve been formed over time rather than designed — a bench that moves like a slow wave, a bedside that curves gently into itself, a cabinet that feels quietly architectural without ever being rigid.
There’s a calmness to it. Natural walnut and ash bring warmth, their grain left to speak for itself, lifted only by moments of mother of pearl that catch the light in a more subtle, considered way. Nothing feels overworked. The forms do just enough.
These pieces were designed to hold something — not just practically, but visually. They offer a surface for marquetry, for pattern, for collaboration. Shown here with our Kitsune design, the detailing sits within the form rather than on top of it, becoming part of the object rather than decoration.
It’s furniture that feels settled, balanced, and quietly expressive.
A Study in Form, Material
& the Space Between the Two.
The Canvas Collection is built on the idea that great furniture doesn’t need to shout. It begins with shape — soft, considered, almost instinctive — and allows the material to do the rest.
The name “Canvas” reflects that thinking. Each piece is designed as a foundation, a surface that invites interpretation. Not fixed, but open. A place where marquetry, metal, and pattern can be applied, reworked, or left untouched entirely.
At its core, this collection is about balance. The warmth of natural walnut and ash, the quiet sheen of mother of pearl, and forms that feel fluid rather than imposed. A wave bench that shifts gently through a space, a bedside that curves without interruption, a cabinet that adapts to what’s needed — bar, storage, or something in between.
There’s a simplicity to it, but it’s deliberate. Every line softened, every edge considered. Nothing excessive, nothing forced.

The Canvas Collection reflects a quieter approach to design, where form, proportion and material are allowed to take precedence. Developed by Patience & Gough and realised through our ongoing collaboration with a specialist workshop in Oman, each piece is carefully resolved to balance restraint with expression.
Working in natural materials such as walnut and ash, the collection focuses on clarity of form, with subtle layers introduced through marquetry, metal and pattern. These elements are applied with precision and restraint, drawing on a level of craftsmanship shaped by generations of expertise in joinery and decorative techniques.
The result is furniture that feels grounded and deliberate, defined by material, proportion and finish.
Yevheniia Vynokurova
Developed in collaboration with Ukrainian artist Yevheniia Vynokurova, this design forms part of a series of patterns translated from her original illustrations into marquetry, and reworked in-house to suit the scale and material of each piece.
